FAQ: FAQ

What is Manual Therapy?

Essentially, your therapist will move your joints/soft tissue to minimize the effects of inflammation and immobilization, and then progress you to active exercises that utilize your muscles when it is optimal for your healing

How do I know manual therapy will help me?

We can discuss your options and help determine if it is the right choice for you. Patients that maybe eligible for manual therapy include those with muscular pain, joint pain, muscular imbalance, weakness, balance issues, arthritis, pre or post surgical rehab, and concussion symptoms. Contact us today to discuss your current condition and even set up a free injury screen if you choose.

What should I wear during therapy?

Manual therapy is hands-on modality that requires contact with your skin. Your body will be placed in various positions during treatment.  Dress comfortably with clothes that allow easy access for the therapist to examine your problem areas. For treatments, loose fitting clothes that are comfortable for gentle exercises and supportive sneakers are often good choices to wear. PLEASE DON’T APPLY OIL OR LOTION TO YOUR BODY BEFORE YOUR VISIT

What should I expect on my first visit?

We will start with an evaluation of about 30 mins. Together we will review your health history, determine your objectives and a treatment plan to help you achieve personal wellness. The remaining time will be hands-on treatment.

How long will my therapy sessions last?

The first session is an initial evaluation that lasts for 75 minutes and each session after that will be 60 minutes.

How many sessions will I need?

Each patient’s diagnosis is different.  Your therapist will develop a plan of care that is right for you. Your plan of care and the number of visits will be determined during your first visit and explained to you.

Will it hurt?

Manual Therapy is not meant to hurt, but to relieve pain. However, as you restore your mobility, pain levels, at times can fluctuate. You might experience some temporary soreness from using muscles that are weakened or recovering. This is a normal response to therapy treatment. Good communication with your therapist will help minimize any discomfort. We want you on your way to quick pain relief and back to normal activities
